After visiting Hyatt Ziva Cancun in February, I was blown away by what they could do for destination weddings. Perfect for those who are seeking something family friendly but also does something special for the adults.
I toured Hyatt Ziva Cancun in February 2024 expecting to be underwhelmed, and I want to be honest about why. Cancun's Hotel Zone carries a reputation with wedding couples as the loud option, the one you consider for about ten minutes before somebody talks you into Riviera Maya. A Hyatt Ziva Cancun wedding turned out to be one of the easier recommendations I make, but only for a specific kind of guest list.
If your guest list is your college roommates plus your parents plus your sister's two kids plus a grandparent who needs a short transfer from the airport, keep reading. If your guest list is twenty adults who want quiet, I will tell you where this resort gets in your way.

Why a Hyatt Ziva Cancun Wedding Works for Mixed-Age Guest Lists
I’m a sucker for a beach wedding with sand in your toes, and Hyatt Ziva Cancun has the best location for a white sandy beach. Not to mention its only 25 minutes from the airport.
Most destination wedding resorts pick a lane. They go adults-only and lose your cousins with toddlers, or they go family-friendly and your child-free friends spend four days dodging pool noodles. Hyatt Ziva Cancun runs both at once, and it does it better than most properties I have walked.
On the family side there is a kids club, a children's water park, and a teen lounge. That last one is rarer than it sounds. Very few all-inclusive resorts build anything for the fourteen-year-old who is too old for the kids club and too young for the swim-up bar, and if you have teenagers coming, that gap is the difference between a guest who has a great week and a guest who follows their parents around looking bored.
On the adult side there is Turquoize, an eighteen-plus enclave inside the resort with its own tower, its own pool, and its own restaurant. Your guests who want nothing to do with children can book into Turquoize and functionally have an adults-only vacation while still being forty steps from your welcome party.
The other structural advantage is location. Hyatt Ziva Cancun sits on Punta Cancun, the point at the top of the Hotel Zone, and the drive from Cancun International is roughly twenty-five minutes. When your guests are flying in for three or four nights, a ninety-minute transfer costs them an entire evening in each direction. That is not a small thing when someone took two days off work to be there. I arrange all group transfers, so your guests walk out of customs and someone is standing there with their name. There are eight wedding venues here, so there’s SOOO much variety for every wedding couple. The choice between them comes down to two questions: how many people are coming, and how do you feel about sand.
Cliff Gazebo, up to 200 guests
The white gazebo on the rocky point, with open Caribbean on three sides and the breakwater below. This is the most dramatic ceremony spot on the property and the one the resort uses for its top two packages. It’s wonderful for large guest lists, anyone who wants ocean in every photo, and couples who want their ceremony to feel like an event rather than a beach hangout. This site is exposed, so wind is a real factor for veils and lightweight fabrics.
Sahara Beach, up to 200 guests
Actual sand, actual toes-in-it beach ceremony, with the Hotel Zone skyline curving away in the distance. This is the venue people picture when they say they want a beach wedding. It’s definitely the classic barefoot beach ceremony, and for beach receptions after dark, which is where this space is genuinely beautiful with the drapery and lanterns up.
Turquoize Lawn, up to 100 guests
A grass lawn on the adults-only side with a wooden pergola and palms. Quieter and more contained than the point. I love this option for smaller adult guest lists, couples who want green and shade instead of open sun, and anyone whose group is staying in the Turquoize tower anyway.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun has a perfect wedding venue with the lighthouse gazebo - think beach without the sand.
Lighthouse Gazebo, up to 150 guests
The red and white lighthouse at the tip of the point sits directly behind the altar. It is the most recognizable image the resort has, and it is the ceremony location included in the three smaller wedding packages. It’s perfect for couples who want a distinctive backdrop that reads as this resort and nowhere else, and anyone booking the smaller packages, since this is where they are held. as a New England girly, I feel right at home with such a cool set up but I know it’s not for everyone.
The reception spaces
Four more venues handle receptions and welcome events. The Rooftop Terrace holds up to 200 and is the premium reception location in the top package, with open ocean on one side and the pier below. The Sky Terrace holds up to 180 and is partly covered, which matters more than couples expect once you have sat through a Cancun afternoon in June. The Firepits area holds up to 50 and is my pick for a welcome party, because the oceanfront firepits and the pier view do the work without you paying for a single rented item. The indoor Ballrooms hold up to 200 and are worth knowing about for two reasons: they are the honest answer for a South Asian wedding with multiple events and heavy production needs, and they are your real rain plan.
Speaking of rain, Hyatt Ziva Cancun assigns your backup location when you sign your contract rather than the morning of. I have worked with properties that leave this vague until you are standing there watching the radar, and this is a better way to do it.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun Wedding Packages and What They Cost in 2026
There are five wedding packages. The gap between the smallest and the largest is enormous, which is good news, because it means you are not forced into a size that does not match your guest list. All five include a symbolic ceremony with a bilingual officiant.

2026 rates from the resort's own package sheet. Additional guests run $47 each on the two smallest packages, $127 on Lavish & Opulent and Luxury, and $143 on Zama, with higher rates for anyone not staying at the resort. Children aged three to twelve are half price. Package pricing changes annually, so treat these as a planning range rather than a quote.
The weekday discount is bigger than most couples realize
Moving a Zama wedding from a Friday to a Thursday saves $1,035. On Lavish & Opulent the swing is $510. If your date is flexible at all, that is real money you can move into food, drinks, or a longer reception. Most of your guests are flying in for several nights anyway, so a Wednesday or Thursday ceremony rarely costs you attendance the way it would at home.
Two of these packages can be free, and the mechanics matter
Just For the Two of You becomes complimentary with a seven-night stay in a qualifying room category. Intimate Elegance becomes complimentary with twenty-five room nights booked across your group in qualifying categories, with a three-night minimum per room.
Twenty-five room nights sounds like a lot until you do the math. Five rooms at five nights each gets you there. If you are having a small wedding with ten guests, you are probably clearing that threshold without trying, and the entire ceremony package costs you nothing.
Two catches, and this is exactly the kind of fine print I read so you do not have to. First, complimentary weddings are only available Monday through Wednesday at ten in the morning. A ten a.m. ceremony in Cancun means heat, harsh overhead light for photos, and an awkwardly long gap before your reception. Sometimes that trade is worth several thousand dollars and sometimes it absolutely is not. Second, the room nights only count in specific higher room categories, which changes how I build your room block. If I put your whole group in entry-level rooms to keep costs down, you may not qualify. That is a real decision with money on both sides of it, and it is the kind of thing that is invisible until someone who has read the contract points it out. The Food, Because That Is What Your Guests Will Talk About
I will die on this hill. Nobody remembers your chair covers. Everyone remembers whether the food was good, and at an all-inclusive that is the thing most likely to go sideways.
Habaneros was my favorite meal on the property and it is not close. Tacos, ceviche, and aguachile served right on the sand with the Caribbean doing its thing twenty feet away. If you are hosting a welcome dinner and you want your guests to immediately understand they are in Mexico and not at a hotel that happens to be in Mexico, this is where you do it.
Beyond that there are seven all-inclusive restaurants covering Italian, French, Asian, wood-fired pizza, and a burgers and shakes spot with a restored car parked inside that made me unreasonably happy. Food carts roam the pool and beach all day with tacos, fresh fruit, and crepes. The churro cart is the single best amenity on this property and I will not be taking questions.
There is also a microbrewery sports bar with house beer and wings, which I bring up because of a specific guest problem. Every wedding has three or four people who are thrilled to be there and also quietly wondering when they can watch the game. Giving them a room with a screen and good wings buys you enormous goodwill for zero dollars. My New England relatives would have parked there for one entire evening and been perfectly happy about it.
Then there is a sweet shop with unlimited ice cream and candy, which is either wonderful or a problem depending on how many children are on your guest list, and a coffee and pastry house that will matter enormously to you the morning after your reception.
Rooms, Room Blocks, and the Part I Actually Handle
The resort has around 547 rooms across several categories, with a lot of ocean-facing inventory because of the position on the point. Turquoize is the adults-only tower. Standard rooms are contemporary with rainfall showers and a stocked in-room beverage center.
Here is how I usually build a room block for a Hyatt Ziva Cancun wedding. The majority goes into entry-level categories so your guests are not forced into a price point they did not choose, with a clear upgrade path for the people who want a swim-up room or the adults-only tower. Then I check that against the complimentary wedding thresholds, because as noted above, the free package only counts room nights in higher categories, and sometimes the smart move is to put a handful of rooms up a tier and let the package pay for itself.
What I want to be direct about is that this is contract work, not decorating. I negotiate the room block, review the attrition and cutoff clauses, tell you what happens if fifteen people cancel, and handle the group transfers. You are not going to be reading a hotel contract at eleven at night trying to figure out what a release date means. I read it, I explain it in English, and then you decide.
Is a Hyatt Ziva Cancun Wedding Right for You?
This resort is for you if: your guest list spans several generations, you have kids and teenagers coming, some of your guests want an adults-only experience and some do not, you want a short airport transfer, and you want a range of ceremony venues so you are not locked into one look.
This resort is NOT for you if: you want a small, quiet, entirely adults-only property, you are picturing a secluded jungle or a boutique feel, or you want to be away from a developed hotel strip. Punta Cancun is a busy stretch of the Hotel Zone. It is convenient and it is lively, and if what you actually want is a quiet stretch of coastline with nothing around it, Costa Mujeres or Riviera Maya will serve you better.
That second paragraph is the part most resort reviews leave out, and it is the reason I do not recommend the same property to every couple. A Hyatt Ziva Cancun wedding is a genuinely strong choice for a big, mixed, multi-generational group. It is a mediocre choice for a couple who wanted seclusion and got talked into convenience.
